Youth Fishing Tournament
June 27 from 8AM to 12PM, the North Louisiana Bass Club, Marshal Robert Cherry, Jr., and the Monroe City Marshal’s Office will host a Youth Fishing Tournament at Cheniere Lake Area 1. Interested participants can pick up applications at the Monroe City Marshal’s Office at 400 Lea Joyner Expressway in Monroe. Completed applications must be submitted by June 12. Freedom Fest 2026
June 27th & June 28, the Sterlington Sports Complex will host Freedom Fest 2026, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States. The free two-day community event kicks off Saturday from 2-10PM with food trucks, artisans, bounce houses and live music, plus a fireworks show. Flags of Freedom: A Walk Through America
On June 30 from 5-8PM, don’t miss Flags of Freedom: A Walk Through America — a free, family-friendly event transforming Downtown Monroe into an immersive celebration of U.S. history. Enjoy live, interactive scenes in Anna Gray Noe Park featuring historical moments and figures such as Betsy Ross, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. The evening also includes food, family activities, and a striking display of 250 American flags throughout the park.
America Bless God Rally 250th Birthday Celebration
July 2 from 6-8PM, Ridge Avenue Baptist Church in West Monroe will host the free America Bless God Rally 250th Birthday Celebration. 4th of July Children’s Parade
July 4 from 9:30–10:30 AM — It’s the annual 4th of July Children’s Parade at Triangle Park near 1900 Pargoud Boulevard in Monroe. Children from local schools and community groups will parade through the park with creatively decorated bikes, wagons, and scooters decked out in red, white, and blue. Hosted by the Monroe Rotary, this Independence Day tradition promises plenty of community spirit.
July 4th Celebration Fireworks
July 4 at 9PM — Celebrate Independence Day in the Twin Cities with the annual July 4th Celebration Fireworks display, a free community event lighting up the sky over the Ouachita River. Fireworks will be launched from the Endom Bridge and can be viewed from Downtown Monroe, Downtown West Monroe, and the West Monroe levee.
VBS at McGuire Methodist Church
July 6-9, it’s evening Vacation Bible School at McGuire Methodist Church. The four-day program, themed “Built on the Rock,” invites children from Pre-K 4 through 7th grade to enjoy evenings filled with dinner, crafts, science, music, recreation, and devotional activities. Back-to-School Bash
August 8th from 10AM to 3PM, the Bonne Idee Assembly of God Young Adult Group will host a free Inaugural Back-to-School Bash at the Mer Rouge High School Ballfield. This event will provide K-12 students from the Mer Rouge and Morehouse areas with essential school supplies, food, and a fun, interactive field day. Community sponsors and school supply donations are currently being sought to support the 400 anticipated students.
